TAAP supports Windows Phone 7 Series
TAAP has announced its support for the new ‘Windows Phone 7 Series’ (or WP7S) operating system from Microsoft by offering new applications built using the ‘Silverlight’ platform.
For business users, organisations that are worried about their business-critical applications no longer working when current Windows Mobile versions are replaced by the Windows Phone 7 Series operating system, can be reassured that TAAP applications currently operating using Windows Mobile 6.1 or 6.5 will continue to run as normal - many with enhanced functionality.
Introduced at the recent Mobile World Congress event in Barcelona, the first phones using the new operating system will be available later this year from manufacturers including Samsung, LG, HTC and Sony Ericsson.
Although Microsoft will only provide the software for the phones, it will specify certain hardware requirements to manufacturers. For example, all handsets will be multi-touch and will come with a dedicated hardware button for Microsoft's search engine Bing.
Microsoft's new operating system is built around a series of so-called 'live tiles', which pull in real-time content from users’ web sites and social networks.
