If you run events or are a “space” owner/hirer (exhibition halls, stadiums, concert halls, train stations, shopping centres etc.), VisitorSpace™ is a highly innovative way to provide your visitors with a richer data-enhanced experience. It harnesses PDA technology and location-based services, and works within buildings as well as outdoors.
TAAP VisitorSpace is a mobile application which uses TiPs (TAAP Interaction Points), and is a combination of low cost hardware and a software service. The ‘TiP’ is a small plastic device placed in a specific location to mark that particular point in “space”. When activated, the TiP provides a specific response on a user’s PDA/handheld device in the form of a pop-up message or electronic form. It does this by referencing pre-programmed data held on the TAAP server.
The ‘TiP’ data is only activated once a user walks within the proximity range of it (proximity ranges can be set by the client). If a user is within the proximity range, they will see either a message or a dynamic form on their VisitorSpace application, which relates to the position of the TiP (for example an exhibition stand). The message could contain further information about the exhibitor’s company or products, prompt a user to visit the stand with a special offer, or pop up a dynamic form in order to collect their contact details. There are many possibilities.

This technology was recently trialled at the Palais de Festival venue in Cannes for a luxury travel event, and proved successful despite the venue’s known problems with mobile/cellular connectivity. Read the full article.
A number of space owners are currently reviewing plans to implement TiPs to provide a more information-rich experience to visitors. Please don’t hesitate to contact TAAP for further information about either VisitorSpace or TiPs if you are a space owner and are thinking of implementing a visitor tracking system which doesn’t require an investment in RFID.
